In October 2019, 21
Japanese delegates from Alfresa participated in a study tour on hospital information systems in France.
The delegation was particularly impressed by the discovery of the organization of the Greater Paris Hospitals (
AP-HP). The
AP-HP is the largest University Hospital in Europe, with 39 hospitals in Ile-de-France that welcome more than 10 million people every year. Its 100,000 or so staff -doctors, researchers, paramedics, administrative staff, technical staff and workers- support its care, research and teaching activities in the service of the Parisian and national population.
For several years, AP-HP ha s embarked on an ambitious
electronic health record (HER) deployment project with
Orbis, consisting of 52 modules of medical specialties. In 2019, Orbis is deployed in all the hospitals of the group. This EHR is used in 805 hospital departments in 84 specialties, and is used daily by 23,000 physicians and 56,500 nurses, for a total of 86,500 end-users.
This project involves important issues related to the security of medical and personal data, as well as the establishment and management of a data ware house. This warehouse contains the administrative and medical data of almost 10 million hospitalized or consulting patients.
The AP-HP also has a major digital platform project managed by an
artificial intelligence in connection with Watson by IBM. The visit of the delegation, which ended with a tour of the
Rothschild Hospital, was a great success.
The Japanese delegates were particularly impressed by the achievements of the AP-HP regarding the multiplicity of issues and the ambition of the project.
