The UK healthcare system

From October 12th through 17th, the managers and chief physicians of medical institutions in Russia attended "The UK healthcare system". Effective management of medical institutions on the example of the London seminar held in London.

The prominence of this learning expedition has been validated by the fact that the organisers of the event secured the participation of representatives of Ministry of Health of Great Britain. The official part of the seminar began with a presentation at the training center for medical personnel "The UCH Education Centre". It was conducted Mr. Gareth Arthur - a Deputy Director of the Department of Health and Mr. James Fowles - a Senior Policy Manager at the Department of Health. They informed the participants about the National Healthcare System in UK, the types of healthcare facilities and the principles of their funding.

In total, in the course of three days, the participants visited the five biggest hospitals of London and met with leadership of each one, they also visited the main clinical departments. Of particular interest to the delegation was a visit to a public healthcare facility Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, which is one of the five best hospitals in England and boasts a very low mortality rate. During the presentation, heads of hospital's clinics introduced the members of the delegation to specifics of structural organization and hospital funding, as well as the composition of staff and principals of hospital management.

The study tour participants included heads of private and public hospitals from different cities in Russia. The delegates received personalized certificates and acknowledged the remarkable level of the event.
