Together with
Ilaria Giannico, Secretary General of the
European Private Hospitals Union, the delegation was able to discover the intricacies of the Italian health system's provision of follow-up and rehabilitation care.
This study programme in Turin and Milan enabled the participants to understand the functioning of several emblematic local institutions.
Dr Franco Ripa presented the health system of the
Piedmont region and
Dr Stefano Gargano highlighted the organisation of the
Don Gnocchi-Onlus Foundation and its innovative rehabilitation activities.
The delegation was also able to visit various major care centres such as the
Koelliker fisio hospital, the Niguarda hospital, the
Saint Raphael hospital,
the Quarenghi clinic, the
Valduce Beretta hospital and the
San Luca auxological hospital.
Finally, the discovery of the
Hippocrate retirement home allowed us to understand the functioning of a residence at the cutting edge of patient service and allowing its guests to enjoy a quality stay.
This international study mission enabled the participants to discover and understand the organisation of the offer of follow-up and rehabilitation care in the Italian health system, whose structure is historically similar to that of the French health system.
