Bundled payments, integrated care networks, shared savings contracts, all these alternative payment models are discussed in many countries around the world and raise many questions. How do healthcare systems find the most appropriate financing method for their providers and local culture? Are these new financing mechanisms really more efficient? How can they mobilize health system players to buy-in these changes?
On March 3
rd, 2021,
AHHA (Australian Hospital & Healthcare Association) organized a digital conference on the subject of value-based healthcare, a unique opportunity for Australian leaders to get an insight in European best practices. Three international experts presented the state of science and in-depth case studies regarding the implementation of alternative payment methods in France, Germany and The Netherlands. From the benefit-risk analysis of the different models to practical tips for national or regional roll-outs, the participants shared advice and tools to advance their reflection on the complex topic of healthcare funding.
The international delegates also benefited from the pre-registered contents of the Digital Case Study (
eJourney) dedicated to
Optimedis AG and its integrated care model implemented in Gesundes Kinzigtal (Germany). With more than ten years of implementation, this German care network is a pilot of population health systems that are valued today in many countries.
The conference's replay and the digital case study are still available online.
