In the company of
Manon Labarchède, research and study officer at the
AA - Human Architecture workshop, thirty participants from the medico-social sector were able to measure the importance of the home approach in the support of people suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
First, architect
Stephen Geason presented the Australian village
Korongee, the first international example of this digital formation, famous for having introduced an innovative model of small community for its residents.
Then it was
Maria Letizia Villa's turn to invite the participants to a virtual study visit, this time to Italy. As a psychologist and psychotherapist, she brought her expertise about one of the most avant-garde European Alzheimer villages:
Il Paese Ritrovato, with which she has worked since its foundation, training in the management of behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia.
Finally,
Sheri Brown introduced Canada's first ever Alzheimer's Village,
Village Langley. An active member of the seniors housing industry since 2014, Ms. Brown is currently the Director of Sales and Marketing at
Verve Senior Living, the founding group of this unique village. Advocacy for seniors is a passion for Sheri, who has volunteered on several boards of associations such as the
British Columbia Seniors Living Association.
This webinar highlighted the issues related to the living environment in improving the daily life of elderly people and people with Alzheimer's disease.
